SCHOOLDEMIA PRIVACY POLICY (UPDATED WITH GHANA DATA PROTECTION ACT COMPLIANCE)

SchoolDemia (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of all users in accordance with the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

 

1. LEGAL COMPLIANCE (GHANA DATA PROTECTION ACT, 2012 - ACT 843)

SchoolDemia processes personal data in compliance with the principles outlined in the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), including:

4. PURPOSE OF DATA COLLECTION

We process personal data strictly for:

  • School administration and management
  • Communication between stakeholders
  • Monitoring student performance and safety
  • Improving platform efficiency

5. DATA SUBJECT RIGHTS (UNDER ACT 843)

Users have the right to:

  • Schools must obtain parental/guardian consent before submitting student data
  • SchoolDemia processes children’s data only for legitimate educational purposes
  • Extra care is taken to protect minors’ information

 

7. DATA SECURITY SAFEGUARDS

In line with legal requirements, we implement:

  • Encryption and secure storage
  • Access controls and authentication systems
  • Regular system audits and monitoring

We take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access, loss, or misuse of data.

 

8. DATA RETENTION POLICY

  • Personal data is retained only as long as necessary
  • Schools may request deletion or export of their data
  • Certain records may be retained to comply with legal obligations

9. DATA SHARING AND TRANSFER

  • With parents/guardians

Cross-Border Data Transfer

Where data is transferred outside Ghana, we ensure:

10. DATA PROTECTION REGISTRATION

Where applicable, SchoolDemia shall:

  • Register with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana

  • We will take immediate steps to contain and assess the breach
  • Affected users and relevant authorities may be notified where required by law

 

12. THIRD-PARTY PROCESSORS

All third-party service providers are required to:
